Natural Remedies for Uterine Fibroid Tumors

Fibroid tumors are the most common type of tumor on the uterus. While these tumors start out small, they can cause some serious issues once they start to grow. In fact, these bad boys can reach the size of a grapefruit and start to press against your organs, mostly on your bladder

There are a variety of risk factors associated with fibroid tumors, but one of the most recent developments in the study showed a connection to estrogen. Scientists have always known fibroid tumors are estrogen dependent due to girls not forming them and they tend to disappear after menopause; however, women with excessive estrogen have been shown to be more likely to form these tumors than women with lower levels of the hormone, likely due to the tumors’ need for estrogen to grow (on a side note, certain supplements, soy and feminine products can increase estrogen). Other risk factors include obesity (which makes sense being estrogen is fat-dependent), family history, and early onset menstruation.

There are several different types of fibroids, with the most common embedding in the wall of the uterus. They typically attach themselves on the side of your uterus and grow in that empty space.

According to research about 80% of women deal with fibroids with black women being a higher percentage.

Here are some remedies to consider…

Diet

It should come as no surprise that making profound changes to your diet can have a beneficial effect on women with uterine fibroids. Research suggests that people who base their diets around whole foods and cut back on refined carbohydrates (like white bread and pasta, bagels, pastries, cakes, chips, and candy) see a reduced risk of developing new fibroids. By contrast, those who eat beef, lamb, and ham see an increased risk.

Get More Vitamin D

The skin makes vitamin D when exposed to sunlight. Low vitamin D levels may enhance your risk of developing fibroids by more than 32 percent according to an article written by National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine, so keeping levels high is vital. The best way to boost your vitamin D levels is to get a moderate amount of sun exposure or, take a vitamin D supplement.

Eat Nitrate-Rich Foods To Reduce Blood Pressure

Studies show that women with fibroids tend to have higher blood pressure than those who don’t. Whether there’s a direct link or not remains a matter for scientific inquiry, but lowering your blood pressure may help you to cut your risk of developing fibroids substantially as well as stroke.

Foods like beets, arugula, lamb’s lettuce and kale all contain vast quantities of nitrate, a chemical which facilitates the dilation of blood vessels. When blood vessels can dilate, blood pressure falls,

Conventional Treatments

There are a myriad of treatments, from medications, to noninvasive surgery, to major surgery such as a hysterectomy . This list from Mayo Clinic gives a thorough look into each option. Find what works best for you. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/uterine-fibroids/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20354294

Keep in mind that with some of the options listed, the fibroid tumors could grow back. Actually the likelihood that they’ll grow back is pretty high. And from what I’ve heard, they grow back with a vengeance. These assholes love our uterus.

Dealing with heavy bleeding? Your doctor may treat you for the heavy bleeding with birth control but hormonal bc can contribute to having higher estrogen levels – remember fibroid tumors feed off of estrogen. So does this solve the problem or mask the symptoms?.

Surgery

Sometimes surgery really is the only answer. I ended up needing surgery. Your doctor will discuss the right surgical option for you based on the size and number of tumors you have, with several different options being available to preserve as much of your reproductive system as possible.

I’m middle aged and I’m done having children so I said take my uterus. Not having a period has been awesome but do what’s best for you. If you choose a hysterectomy, opt to leave some goodies behind. I’ll explain...

If you go for a full hystorectomy (removing uterus, tubes, ovaries, cervics), you may go into full menopause. It can also be worse then if you naturally went into menopause. If you can talk to your doctor about leaving your ovaries to prevent going into full blown menopause and your cervix to help keep things nice and wet (our lubrication comes from the vaginal walls and cervix).

I’ve been hotter than usual since having my hysterectomy but I did move from New Jersey to Florida so I’ll just leave that one right there.
